Dryer vent cleaning
Dryer Vent Cleaning in Utah County & Northern Utah
If your clothes are taking longer to dry, the vent may be clogged. We clean the whole line, from the back of the dryer to the cap outside, and show you what came out.

Signs it’s clogged
Why your lint screen isn’t enough
The screen catches some of the lint. The rest goes out the vent line behind the dryer, through a wall, under a floor or up to the roof, and builds up where you can’t see it. As the line narrows, the dryer runs longer and hotter on every load. The CPSC notes that clothes taking longer to dry can be a sign of a blocked vent (CPSC).
Signs your dryer vent needs cleaning
- Clothes still damp after a normal cycle
- The dryer or laundry room gets unusually hot
- A burning smell when the dryer runs
- The outside vent flap doesn’t open, or lint collects around it
- Lint on the floor behind or around the dryer
- It’s been more than a year, or it’s never been done
A two-minute check
Is it the dryer or the vent?
Before you call an appliance repair company, or us, here is how to tell which one is the problem.
Run a load and go outside
With the dryer running, find the vent cap on the wall or roof. If the flap barely opens or you feel only a weak puff of warm air, the line is blocked. That’s the vent.
Hot dryer, damp clothes
If the dryer gets hot and the clothes still come out damp after a full cycle, the heat has nowhere to go. That’s usually the vent too.
No heat at all
If the drum turns but the air never gets warm, the problem is in the dryer itself (a heating element or thermostat), which is a job for an appliance technician, not a vent cleaning.
If you smell something burning, stop using the dryer and unplug it until the vent has been checked. Lint behind a hot dryer is how dryer fires start.
Dryer fire safety
13,820 home fires a year in the U.S. involve clothes dryers, and failure to clean is the leading factor.
Failure to clean was a factor in about a third (32%) of them. Home dryer fires cause an estimated 7 deaths, 344 injuries and $233 million in property damage each year. That is why the NFPA says to clean lint out of the vent pipe once a year, or more often if clothes take longer than normal to dry.

What you get
What a dryer vent cleaning includes
Check the run
We follow the line from the dryer to where it exits the house, on the wall or the roof.
Clean the full line
The whole length of the vent, not just the first few feet behind the dryer.
Clear the cap and check
We clear the outside cap so the flap opens, check the airflow and show you the before and after.
Utah homes
Vents that need it more often
Roof vents
Common in multi-level Utah homes. Vertical runs and roof caps collect more lint and are harder to reach, so they get skipped the most.
Long runs & basements
A laundry room in the middle of the house or a finished basement often means a long run with several turns. Longer runs clog faster.
Rentals & busy households
Big families and short-term rentals put far more loads through the dryer. Those vents are worth checking more than once a year. Owners and property managers: we can schedule between tenants or guest stays, and you can ask us about several units at once.

FAQ
Dryer vent questions
How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
The NFPA recommends cleaning lint out of the vent pipe about once a year, or sooner if clothes start taking longer to dry. Big families, long vent runs and roof vents may need it more often.
What are the signs my dryer vent is clogged?
Clothes still damp after a normal cycle, a dryer or laundry room that gets unusually hot, a burning smell, lint around the dryer or the outside vent, or an outside flap that doesn’t open when the dryer runs.
Can I clean it myself?
Partly. Clean the lint screen every load and vacuum behind the dryer. The rest of the line runs inside walls, floors or up to the roof, where household tools don’t reach and can push lint further in.
My dryer vent goes out the roof. Can you clean it?
Yes. Roof vents are harder to reach and collect more lint at the cap, so they’re worth checking every year.
What kind of dryer vent hose is safe?
Rigid or semi-rigid metal. The CPSC recommends replacing plastic or foil accordion-style hose, which traps lint and crushes easily.
There’s a bird nest in my dryer vent. What should I do?
Stop using the dryer until the vent is cleared, because a nest can block the airflow completely. Then give us a call: we’ll remove the nest and clean the vent line.
Do you serve my area?
We’re headquartered in Utah County and work across Utah County, Salt Lake County, Davis and Weber Counties, and Park City and Heber.
The once-a-year advice is the NFPA’s, from its dryer safety tip sheet. The vent hose advice is the CPSC’s.
Book it with your air duct cleaning
Ducts usually go a few years between cleanings. The dryer vent is a yearly job, so the duct visit is a good time to do both.
